Karen is an award winning freelance artist and writer who was the first graphic artist to be named a winner of the Pulitzer Prize. She traveled to Africa as a member of the HIV/AIDS Leadership Council of the international relief organization Save the Children, and has worked on varied projects, including art and design for a railway station and adjacent park in Dallas and acting as a confetti engineer during the milennium celebrations in Times Square. Peace One Day, a children's book published by G.P.Putnam's Sons, in which Karen collaborated with Jeremy Gilley, founder of World Peace Day, will be released in August 2005.
